At Seton Residence rooms start at $525 a week for a Deluxe Room with a shared bathroom, $650 for a Studio Basic with an en-suite, and $745 for a King Studio. Every rate includes electricity, gas, heat, water, air conditioning, Wi-Fi, weekly housekeeping and linens, so the weekly figure is what you actually pay.

Seven nights. There is no maximum, and most residents stay between three months and a year. Rates are quoted weekly rather than monthly, so a stay does not have to start on the first of the month.

No. Rooms have a mini-fridge, a microwave and a kettle, and the Studio Basic adds a coffee maker, but there is no stove or oven in any room. Cooking happens in the communal kitchen, which is shared by everyone in the building. This is the single thing people most often assume otherwise, so it is worth checking before you book.

In the Studio Basic and the King Studio, yes, the bathroom is en-suite. The Deluxe Room uses a bathroom on the corridor shared with two or three other residents, cleaned weekly by housekeeping. That difference is the main reason the Deluxe costs $125 a week less.

All utilities, air conditioning, Wi-Fi, weekly housekeeping, bed linens and towels, and access to the communal kitchen, laundry room, lounge, recreation room and courtyard. There is no separate utility bill and no internet contract to sign.

About a four-minute walk. The building sits on East 40th Street half a block from Lexington Avenue, which puts the 4, 5, 6, 7 and S trains, Metro-North and the Long Island Rail Road within a few blocks. The Transit Score for the address is 100 and the Walk Score is 98.

The CUNY Graduate Center is an eleven-minute walk and Baruch College about thirteen minutes. NYU is roughly twenty minutes by subway, Hunter College sixteen, FIT eighteen, and Columbia around thirty-four. NYU Langone Health is fifteen minutes away, which is why a good share of residents are on medical rotations.

Only the King Studio. It can be arranged as a twin on request and is priced for one or two residents, which usually works out cheaper per person than taking two separate rooms. The Deluxe Room and the Studio Basic are single occupancy.

No. The building is also entirely non-smoking, indoors and in the courtyard.

Yes, an on-site laundry room with washers and dryers, included in the rate. You will not need a laundromat or a coin card.

It was built in 1931 and last substantially renovated in 2010. It is six storeys with sixty-one units, and it operated as the Seton Hotel before it became a residence, which is why the rooms have hotel proportions and the ground floor has a lounge rather than a lobby you walk straight through.
